Deer Resistant Plants

A deer resistant plant is one that deer generally find less palatable. Typically these are plants with strong scents or fuzzy, coarse, or fern-like foliage. Some deer resistant plants may contain a toxin or unpleasant taste when eaten. Deer resistant plants can be used to surround plants that deer find palatable.

Keep in mind that no plant is deer proof. When hungry enough deer become less picky about what they eat.

This list of deer resistant plants was compiled from information provided by Prairie Nursery, Michigan State University Extension Service and the Northwest Michigan Invasive Species Network.
